I'm a licensed plumber from Kansas City and owner of a OMS. I've been active on PZ for a few years now and looking forward getting familiar with PHACER forum.

A friend of mine works for the gas company, whenever he doesn't want to go on an emergency call he just says he's been drinking. Most of the time he's telling them the truth.

It goes inside the pipe to block off the water and allows you to sweat a new ball valve on. I bring it in on every install.

put your thumb over the pipe while your helper gets you a sharkbite valve!

Done that before... on a re-circ main.

In the very bottom row of trays in my truck, there is a tray labeled "HackByte". In it, there is a 3/4" and 1/2" Sharkbyte valve. Hope I never have to use them, but they are there for just that purpose.

I have them too, haven't used them for well over a year.

I use my jet sweat once every week or so, shark bites are for CPVC only.

I have a 2yr old but she had just left. Things get a little too wild for the kids during the overnight hours.

I think it was Dave Ramsey that said if you want to be charitable, you first have to be successful in making the money. Get your money first, then if you have extra you can decide how to donate it.

Thought it would be a good idea to have a thread where guys can show off their soldering skills.

Most of the houses I work in have at least one valve that lets water in the tank from the hot side when the cold is closed.

I always shutoff the water to the whole house and keep my new Water heater valve closed so I can listen for the water flow to stop upon turning the water back on.

So I guess my point is that IF thermal expansion were happening and in the extremely rare situation that somebody "accidentally" shut off the hot water valve, the water should still remain equal between the hot & cold lines.

I've been meaning to invest in hidden GPS trackers to put inside my most valuable tools. It would be worth the cost just to catch the piece of shit stealing.

I use my tubing cutter more than any other tool. After 1 year and 1000's of cuts it has lost its effectiveness.

It's incredible how fast and easy the new device is. I would replace this tool every 6 months if I had to but it would be nice to have it last longer than the last.

Honestly some of those guys at PZ are so stupid, they just don't understand how effective search engines can be. They really have no clue that they are educating DIY'ers and handymen. Less than 10% of the traffic comes from members and I would be willing to bet a majority of the members aren't even real plumbers.

I've noticed a lot of fake members showing up in the timeline. I previously setup and ran a forum and had the same problem.

There should be a some security or captcha you can add to the sign up process.

Guys I have a web developer I have worked with for years. They developed waterheaterdb.com for me and are really reasonable.

Let me known if you need some help.
