So, I applied for the Plumbing private area when i first signed up. still not approved. is there a waiting period or minimum post count? just wondering.

The Mods/Admin are going to want verification of Trade credentials before admitting you to the private areas.

Just PM one of them and they'll let you know what they require to validate your credentials.

 Post subject: Steam and Pex
Posted: Fri Mar 29, 2013 10:43 pm

This happen about a month ago....

These 1" pex pipes was off a boaster boiler for commercial dishwashers... the pex started about 30 ft from the boiler....

It just so happen that the high limit failed and the boaster would go right up in temperature producing steam ... in about 3 minutes the pipe burst .... sending steam every where...

had to replace the high limit on this boaster...

You've never used a floor mount chain fall before?
Only once...
Back in '76 when I went TDY to OZ after our Operation Paul Bunyan deployment with the F-111's...

None of our stuff would work with the reverse gravity they have in OZ so we had to borrow the stuff from the RAAF to work on the jets...

The pilots had a helluva time flying inverted the whole time they were there too...

Understood, I'd use the term "man hours" rather than "job security" but hey, some say potato, some say vodka.

They do get big ones occasionally, I have only fished for them a few times....with no luck. But I like eating them!

I'm not big on squid, but I do loves me some octopi.

I got kind of burned out on squid when I was a construction foreman at a shore plant up in Alaska in the very early 80's. Squid beach themselves by the hundreds of thousands all at one time and the stench is enough to make your eyes water and bleed at the same time. The smell carries for miles and permeates everything. I threw most of my clothing and safety gear away at the end of every 3 month gig.

Speaking of Octopi, check this brut out.
My budy hooked in to this one while rock cod fishing.

Post subject: Beware of the Big Show
Posted: Sun Mar 31, 2013 8:54 am

Another thread .. I am pulling over here that I started

Some time ago I got caught up in the big show.

It all came back last night as I sat at my buddy mechanic garage having couple of beers.

He just started his buisness having just retired from his job.

We were talking about buisness in general and I told him about the big show.

Well back about 15 years ago a guy came into town in a big SUV and dressed like he was a millionaire. He said he was a contractor and was going to take our town by storm and asked if I would do the plumbing and hvac for him.

Back then every employee of his had a new truck and they all had cell phones. Cell phones up here were costly to have and operate at that time and it looked like this guy was rolling in it.

Even the lumber yard and carpet place all fell for the big show.

Well he started with one house and by the time I was just finnished he had two more for me to start. That was fine I got paid for one and had two more to do.

When I was done those two he had 4 more on the go. Well I got paid for the two and started the other four.

This went on for some time until he had me at 16 new homes at one given time.

He also had his employees buying all the houses and was getting the money from the bank.

At the end I was on the hook for 16 homes that had already changed hands and never recieved payment.

He had me for over 70K and the lumber yard for over 200K and the carpet store for over 90K.

What a mess and a hard lesson learned as nobody got paid but him.

He packed it up and moved out of town.

Beware of the Big Show

 Post subject: Re: CB radio.
Posted: Sun Mar 31, 2013 9:49 pm

I used to sit in an F-111 aircraft at night and talk on the CB Radio in the plane...

It was a nice radio, it had 40 channels and a bunch more higher and lower, it had 150 watts AM and if I went on the upper or, lower sidebands it had 450 watts....
Wow... My ssb unit had20 watts on AM, and I thought that was big
Lets just say I could sit in the jet on the flight line at Mt Home AFB, Idaho and routinely talk to Hickam AFB, Hawaii, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska or, Clark AB, Philippines, and none of the local CB traffic could talk over me...

Not knowing your situation at all. If its the rear sagging you could always put in helper springs. Or even airbags as an adjustable helper spring.

I tried to post my evening snack last night, but the size restrictions are giving me a real hard time.

I eated too much cheesecake yesterday and felt a little like Dunbar this morning sitting on the porcelain throne.
"Giving birth to a Dunbar" :ha :ha

Here's the rub -- I put about a pound of cajun style buffalo wings on top of that cementitious cheese cake last night.

On the bright side, I did finally finish the last 10 chapters of that e-book I started over a year ago.

Amazing things happen when some of the most prolific posters on a forum decide that it no longer meets their needs and a suitable alternative is found...

Thanks Old School for providing that place... :salute
