Had my kit in for calibration for over a week and started wondering why it was taking so long. So I decided to call and find out what was going on. Buddy on the phone proceeds to tell me my kit is "damaged beyond economical repair".... The kit is only 4 years old... but has probably 800-1000 tests under its belt... Looks like I gotta look for a new kit!

I liked Midwest more than Watts.

I have...well had a watts tk9-a. We have a few TK99E at the shop that I've used that I like. My boss asked if I wanted midwest or watts. Im thinking watts only because that's all Ive used.

Mine is from Backflowgage.com. It is a lower priced setup that works just fine.

You can use any 5 valve kit just like a 3 valve. So I dont really care about that. I do like how that TK99E has the line pressure gauge built in. Very convienent.

Is it a 3 or a 5?

It is a three. I've had it for about 5 years. They are in the next county so it is quick turn around at recertification time.

Watts tk 99 D is digital with a printer.... My new gauges came in today, got the TK 99 E. Did I get ripped off? or are the 99E better than the 9A?

There are 3 basic types of test gauges
-Differential pressure
-Duplex pressure
- Sight tube.
Differential pressure: (can be analog or digital) must include three pressure hoses and 2, 3 or 5 needle valves.
Personally I'm prefer 5 needle valves like mid west 830 because its a lot of faster and easier when you test any backflow. I'm assuming your trainer told you the difference in classes to get your certification. Any way check the spec for both watts models in this webpage
http://www.watts.com/pages/_products_su ... parCat=101

Resuming: tk99e its better.
By the way, congrats for your new gauge .
